Wasserman's stunning victory, which was greeted by thunderous applause from the sweltering crowd, made him the fourth straight local horse to win the Northwest's most prestigious race. Jockey Jennifer Whitaker, also a Washington native, became the first female jockey to ride a Longacres Mile winner.
