Washington-bred gelding (b. 1998)

Career (2000-2002): 19-2-6-2, $22,708

In horse racing, a select few Thoroughbreds are destined for greatness while others simply enjoy the competition and always show up when their number’s called.
During a three-year career, I’m Two Good constantly put forth honest efforts. His best races were at Emerald Downs, where he finished first, second or third in 9-of-13 races including a 3 ¼-length victory in his debut. Trainer Frank Lucarelli, a four-time champion at Emerald Downs, remembers I’m Two Good fondly.

“He had some talent when we first started out,” Lucarelli said. “He looked like he’d be a pretty good horse. He even put a good string of races together.”

After retirement, I’m Two Good moved to Enumclaw, where Sammie Jo Mitchell-daughter of the track’s all-time leading rider Gallyn Mitchell and agent Denise Mitchell-fell in love with the big, beautiful gelding.

“It’s funny, I had him for a week after he retired and (his previous connections) decided they wanted him back,” Sammie Jo Mitchell said. “I was already in love with him after a week, so I wasn’t letting him go anywhere.”

A perfect match, I’m Two Good and Mitchell have succeeded in all their joint ventures especially in barrel racing and pole bending events. In fact, in barrel racing, I’m Two Good competes at the 1 and 2D level, which is considered the top echelon in rodeo circuits. Mitchell, who’s 24 now, but has competed in rodeo events since she was 4-years-old, said I’m Two Good couldn’t happier in his second career.

“He loves what he’s doing,” she said. “If he doesn’t have enough to do, he’ll just go to bucking and playing.”

Despite retiring from racing, I’m Two Good still spends his summers at Emerald Downs. For the past two years, the Washington-bred son of Demons Begone has ponied racehorses during morning training hours and throughout the live race card.

“All this horse wants is something to do,” Mitchell said. “He’s 15 now, but he still acts like a young horse.”
