RONDA ROCKS DANCES TO A WINNING TUNE
IN FRIDAY FEATURE AT EMERALD DOWNS

AUBURN, Wash. (June 28, 2013) – Ronda Rocks rewarded her backers Friday with a 2 ½-length victory in the $9,975 Cascade Coffee Purse for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Isaias Enriquez, Ronda Rocks ran six furlongs in 1:11.61 and paid $5, $3.40 and $2.10. Frank Lucarelli is the trainer and co-owner with David Taylor of Seattle.

For Enriquez, it was his second win of the night—the 15th time he’s had at least two wins this season—and gave him a 46-44 lead over defending champion Juan Gutierrez in the jockeys’ standings.

Lucarelli also had two wins, and the two time defending training champion climbed into third place in the trainers’ standings with 16 wins.

A 4-year-old Kentucky-bred filly by Rockport Harbor, Ronda Rocks is 2-0-1 in eight career starts with earnings of $20,636.

Singing Yankee, with Eliska Kubinova riding, rallied to finish second and paid $5.80 and $2.20. A Goodlawyer Will Do and Daisy Clover dead-heated for third place, both paying $2.10 for show.

A series of long shots, including 11-to-1 Wild Hoss in race four and 10-to-1 Because of You in race seven, prevailed in the $0.50 Pick 5, and the carryover to Saturday is $4,281.

NOTES: Apprentice Maggie Hardison nearly rode her first winner Friday, leading to deep stretch aboard Fantasyville in the race seven finale, but was overtaken late by Because of You ($23.80) and jockey Rocco Bowen…In a Thoroughbred racing oddity, the 4-year-old filly Mary Jeanene ran in consecutive races at Emerald Downs. That is, she ran fifth Sunday in the ninth and final race, and returned Friday to finish eighth in the opener…Incidentally winning races on consecutive days/race cards would not have been unprecedented. The Clint Roberts-trained 4-year-old filly Honky Tonk Babe won races at Yakima Meadows on September 11 and 12, 1993…Wild Hoss ($24.80) rallied to win race four and gave a surging Don Munger his fourth win in his last seven starts…Live racing continues Saturday with first post 2:15 p.m.
