Coca-Cola Refreshments new at Emerald Downs

AUBURN, Wash., March 2,2012 – Thousands of fans are seated in the stands at Emerald Downs with an ice cold Coca-Cola in their hands as the horses and their jockeys thunder down the home stretch. It’s a perfect day at the races, and one that fans will be able to enjoy every time they visit Emerald Downs through a new association between the track and Coca-Cola Refreshments.

The multi-year exclusive beverage contract means that all sparkling beverages offered at Emerald Downs’ concession stands and vending machines will showcase the wide variety of brands offered by Coca-Cola. The deal commences immediately, just in time for the track’s 2012 season, which opens April 13 and continues through September 23.

The Northwest region’s premier horse racing venue will draw over 500,000 people for racing and other events in 2012.

"Nothing goes better with a day at the races at one of the region’s premier facilities than a refreshing Coca-Cola. Now when fans fill the seats at Emerald Downs, they’ll be able to enjoy the action on the track with their favorite sparkling beverage," said Alex Zigliara, Vice President of Sales, Coca-Cola Refreshments, "This partnership means Coca-Cola will be refreshing fans at this great home for thoroughbred racing for years to come."

Elements of the agreement include media, consumer engagement, retail promotions, sales rights, recycling, and on-site branding throughout this state-of-the art facility.

"We look forward to offering Coca-Cola products to our fans starting on April 13 when our season opens," said Adrian Buchan, marketing director for Emerald Downs. "Coke will also have a strong marketing presence throughout our facility, culminating in the $50,000 Coca-Cola Handicap on June 24."

This new partnership complements Coca-Cola programs and partnerships at other iconic venues throughout the Northwest and with local sports teams, including the Seattle Seahawks, Sounders FC, and the University of Washington.
