    Jockey Leonel Camacho-Flores recovering nicely
    7/14/2012

    CAMACHO-FLORES SUSTAINS SUPERFICIAL INJURIES ONLY

AUBURN, Wash. (July 14, 2012) – Leonel Camacho-Flores' injuries are less serious than previously reported, and the jockey's riding status is "day-to-day" agent Ken Green said Saturday morning.

"Nothing is broken, Leonel has a bad bruise on his arm and stitches in his lip," Green said. "His lips a bit swollen, but it could have been worse."

Initially it was feared that Camacho-Flores had broken an arm in the Friday evening spill which occurred in the seventh race when Send Silver tripped and unseated the jockey into the far turn, sending Camacho-Flores hurtling to the ground with tremendous force. He never lost consciousness, however, and X-rays were negative.

Voted Top Riding Achievement last year for his strong second-half showing, Camacho-Flores is fifth at the current meet with 36 wins. Replacements will be required for his five scheduled mounts Saturday, and Camacho-Flores is named on six horses Sunday including longshot Maniacal Passion in the $50,000 Seattle Slew Handicap for 3-year-old colts and geldings.
