Purse money is guaranteed by the HBPA and will be available 48 hours after the running of a race. Owners and trainers are required to deposit jockey fees before a horse starts

Purse money will be available through an HBPA guarantee 48 hours after the day of the race except for stakes races which require WHRC clearance for 1st, 2nd & 3rd placing.

For IRS purposes, it is mandatory that all owners have a W-9 Form on file in the Paymaster's Office before their horses compete. Canadian residents are required to complete a W-7 Form. No funds will be released without these forms on file. The IRS also mandates that Form 8300 be filed whenever cumulative cash deposits of over $10,000 are made into an account.

Owners claiming a horse must have cleared funds, plus 9.5% King County sales tax for geldings, on account with the paymaster prior to the running of the race. Claim deposits must be cash, cashiers check or cleared purse money.
