Details: Join STAR 101.5 and Emerald Downs for the “16th Annual Kent and Alan Wiener Dog Races”.Twenty-four purebred dachshunds (wiener dogs) will race down the track at Emerald Downs at approximately 3:30 pm on Saturday, July 21, 2012. A total of three heats will take place, including two qualifying heats of 12 dogs each. The top 6 from each of the two heats will advance to the final race. Returning top dogs, Max and Regal, will be back along with the two winners from the Wiener Dog Rally.
The 1st place pooch from Emerald Downs and their owner will receive a two-night stay at Hotel Vintage Park, a $50 gift certificate to Tulio, Valet Parking, full VIP treatment for any pets and, of course, a guaranteed spot in next year’s races. Plus, a trophy taller than the length of the winning wiener dog topped with a ‘Top Wiener’ wiener dog.
Everyone at the event will get a chance to leave a winner. All guests have the chance to “Guess the Winning Wiener Dog” and enter to win airfare and overnight accommodations in Las Vegas to see Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw in concert at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, courtesy of Universal Republic Records.
Bring the whole family to the track for this fun-filled day with free face painting, pony rides, foot-long hot dogs, and, of course, the races! Kids under 17 get in free. Gates open at 9:30 am and the first horse race will begin at 2pm with the wiener dog action beginning at approximately 3:30pm- rain or shine.
